Jeanie (Jessica) Witkin (Zeller)

Well, this is a practical post...I left my jacket at the United baggage claim yesterday and they are holding it in the United baggage service center at O'Hare. If anyone is flying United and could pick it up, under my name Jessica Zeller, it would save me a trip out to the airport! My phone is 303 808-1228 if anyone can do this, many thanks.

Though I had hoped to be able to attend at least one reunion event, it's not going to happen. My husband's medical issues have been challenging this year, and looking after him is a priority. However, I wish you all a wonderful weekend of renewed contacts and shared memories. And many thanks to the reunion committee for the hard work that is making this opportunity possible.

thank you Robert for breaking the ice of license.  i agree whole heartedly with your vote for sponteneity!

this here website inspired a pome out of me way back on April 8 this year, just shy of Detroit.  so i fugure it's about time i give it back:

                            tune known

ridin megabus.com on thuh journey to meet the unknown classmate.

hairstyles in Michigan more daring, in a retro way—to our daring era.

how new can you get anyway with something so old?  terrain not

quite so flat.  but flattened on this endless strip of four lane divided,

our postwar childhood's gift to the species.  boom of peace that did

not last to adolescence.  stolen, in to the tomb of the unknown, by

assassination.  crowding under the desk became a different unantici-

pated bomb.  completely blowing our future.  and here

we are there, on the 50th anniversary reunion website

still stunned.  no mention of cause of death in the myriad In Memoriam.

as if we didn't know.  in the eye of the endless cry for equal rights.  riding

on the internet to visit a few who picked up some of the same pieces of

peace, among the leftovers in this long stretch of aftermath some of us

are so blessed as to be allowed.  chiropractor carpenters, midwives to

possibility.  terrorist sufi dancers of universal peace.  toasting with

vegan bread.  gluten is free.

bless each classmate, known and unknown in high school.  and long live this website!

Beautiful poems.........

Yesterday was our first "taste of reunion."  Even tho I only saw about 30 classmates at the hotel picking up packets it was overwhelming. You don't want to hurt feelings by not recognizing old friends but it can be challenging.  There were only smiles and laughter and lots of hugs.  Looking forward to the next three days.

........dress warm.

I was hoping I could make this one, but it wasn't to be -- too many conflicts, including impending grandfatherhood.   I've enjoyed the posts and hope they continue.  Have fun, all, and see you at the 100th!

To all of you enjoying the reunion. I am so sad now that I am not there to share in the memories. My thoughts have been with all of you this entire weekend and I smile when I think I can hear the excitement of meeting up again.  I hope someone has remembered to sing the ETHS. Song to the tune of the Mickey Mouse Club.

Whose the leader of the school that glistens like a gem,

M. I. C. H. A. E. L. but mostly IBM!  (That is Dr. Michael)

hope you are all having a great time.

dear classmates all.

sorry (especially Duke, Dos, & Rommie) that i am not coming tonite, Saturday nite.  i have been back and forth, but the final decision is in honor and deference to Judy Anderson.  i deeply appreciate and receive the gift she gave our whole class of this venue for tonite.  my being there tonite with my whole heart and long tuned lifestyle would intentionally challenge their dress code & thus compromise her own membership.  it is my own personal preference to stay away tonite, and go to each other event, including tomorrow's brunch—all of which i am thoroughly enjoying and appreciating.  so glad we all can be present with each other wherever we can!

and that MOST EXPECIALLY includes THIS WEBSITE!

I'm hoping that some old friends and acquaintances will wonder what I have been doing for 50 years -- and I intend to write about that, but probably not today. Meanwhile, I wish everyone at the reunion an experience that is illuminating and fun. I'll see you back on the website!

My heart is so full of gratitude to everyone involved in this amazing reunion!  Although I was able to attend only Friday night, I continue to feel surrounded by the joy of so many reconnections, hugs and love.  Thank you all for this amazing gift. Much love, Joanie Hirshman

I too was only able to attend Friday nights event but was so impressed with all the hard  work and commitment of our wonderful classmates and steering  committee. You are amazing and all your hard work is greatly appreciated. To the classmate I got to see and the ones I didn't have a great next 50 years maybe I'll see you at the 100 year reunion. Should be a very small turn out. ;-)

Into The Sunrise (After A Fiftieth Reunion)

We stirred up old memories and we made

Some new ones at our reunion, now past,

Old records and old memories replayed,

And now I hope that it won’t be the last.

I connected, and temporarily

Felt my youth restored, and felt more alive,

So now I wonder when the next one will be.

Perhaps when we are all seventy-five,

That will happen in twenty twenty-one,

That’s just a number now, and who can know

If they’ll still be here for that reunion,

But time will take it’s time, and we must go

Along, but it’s good to look forward to

Another event, sharing memories,

I’d like to keep in touch, find something new,

A different day with something to seize,

I will gather the rosebuds while I may,

And look at life through a rosy prism,

And look forward as life goes day to day,

And fill pages with joy, not cynicism.

I’ll be happy to meet with you once more,

Today, tomorrow or who knows when?

This year, next year, but let’s do it before

Yesterday’s sweet meetings are forgotten.

And now for the refrain to set this song,

With a wish to see you again sometime,

It will be soon, because before too long

You’ll be in sunrise, and set in my rhyme.

Old friends, many all the way back to kindergarten, are the Best Friends, which this three-day festival of friendships proved to the max. Too many people to truly connect with, but with those you could, a new bond was forged and with it a promise to not lose touch again. What a grand time was had, hopefully by all.

I had a wonderful time at the Reunion. Friday night and Saturday for lunch.

I tried to say thanks to all in the Committee when I saw them, but let me say it again: you did a great job and the events met all of my expectations.

We attended school in Evanston with a great bunch of people.

Happy Trails to You, Until We Meet Again...

I can't adequately express how much this reunion meant to me.  Everything was wonderfully executed by the planning committee and everyone had such a good time.  It was wonderful to see old friends and get reunited.  I met new friends as well and we all promised to keep in touch. For me, it was a healing weekend for so many memories of the past.  Thanks to everyone for making this such a memorable weekend.

Many thanks to Suzi, Pat, Phil, Judy, Fred and everyone else who worked so hard to make this reunion as special as it was. I'm so glad I was able to attend several events, and am truly sorry I didn't attend more. It was terrific to reconnect with such long time friends...as far back as third grade! Lots of giggles shared by my old College Hill, Timber Ridge and Skiles pals. Whether another reunion ever happens or not, this one will be a memory that lasts. Wishing the entire ETHS class of 64 good health, good humor and contentment in the years to come.

What an awesome event - thanks to the committee and everyone else who helped.  It felt a little surreal - like I was in a time warp...and I loved every minute of it.

Oh my that was fun! Thanks to all who made it such a grand time for everyone. There's something very nourishing about returning to our roots, rediscovering that younger self, and reflecting on the growth and change that has occurred in 50 years.

Well, since people are posting their poems on this site......I will say I write poems, but I call them "ditties".  As you know, I have been divorced for 24 years and I have my profile on several online date sites, as I result I have written these two poems many years ago.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MATCH (to me)

I look at a face and try to see,

beneath the smile, for that's what I seek.

Is he romantic and witty and humorous and true?

Are there things in common we like to do?

I hope he is caring, compassionate and true,

and if he is lazy, that really won't do.

Oh memories we'll share and stories we'll tell,

of our goals and our dreams, not won't that be swell?

Oh, where is my soulmate, my lover, my friend?

My quest has been long, oh when will it end?

______________________________________________

My profile name on some date sites online is GardengirlA1, so this is another little dittie I wrote.

My name "Gardengirl" is a clue don't you see,

to what I do after work when I'm totally free.

Auctions will beckon, I attend them a lot

to sell at shows and in malls, now that's my weak spot.

I read lots of books, and you wouildn't believe,

the subjects they cover, way tooo many for me.

"Balroom" is displayed on the plates of my car,

it shows that dance is my passion, I don't try very hard.

I like lots of music, I like it alot....

but awful heavy metal should really rot..

Let me add my kudos & sincerest thanks to the reunion committee.  Due to a conflict with another event on Friday in Indianapolis I was only able to attend Saturday evening's event.  Nonetheless, I had a great time seeing old friends and making the acquaintaince of other classmates I didn't know in high school.  For all those I talked with, thank you for taking the time to speak with me.  I left the event with a full heart.

Prior to the reunion, concerns had been expressed on this website about too much drinking at such events.  Personally, I didn't observe any sloppy drunks acting boorishly or obnoxiously.

Once again, kudos to all those involved in planning, organizing and attending this exceptional reunion.  While I have no other "50th's" to compare it with, I simply know it can't be topped by any finer people!  Thank you to everyone involved and thank you to all my wonderful classmates.  I enjoyed it to the hilt and shall never forget!  Sherrie Igoe Dembrowski  smileykiss

What a fabulous reunion we all had ! All the events were so awesome. Laughter and so many happy faces. Each person I talked to had a big smile or a loving hug for me. I was brought to tears a couple of times with happiness with "so long ago" friends from my times at College Hill and Willard schools. Such joy! Carol Mueller you were such a joy to my heart! Bobbie Thorne.... You and Patti were my constant companions. Bev and Ann,you both were my best "sidekicks". 50 years hasn't changed us much! Loved it. The reunion committee did so so much hard work to make this a flawless reunion. Each event was outstanding and with each event I made more reconnections??. The food faire was 5-star. Memories now are firmly planted in my brain now and hoping to journey once again to attend another reunion perhaps in a few years to absorb the LOVE that was felt attending this one. Stay well my classmates -keep sunny??-if Houston ??calls you- call!  Best wishes to all of you..sweet friends.
