Into The Sunrise (After A Fiftieth Reunion)
We stirred up old memories and we made
Some new ones at our reunion, now past,
Old records and old memories replayed,
And now I hope that it won’t be the last.
I connected, and temporarily
Felt my youth restored, and felt more alive,
So now I wonder when the next one will be.
Perhaps when we are all seventy-five,
That will happen in twenty twenty-one,
That’s just a number now, and who can know
If they’ll still be here for that reunion,
But time will take it’s time, and we must go
Along, but it’s good to look forward to
Another event, sharing memories,
I’d like to keep in touch, find something new,
A different day with something to seize,
I will gather the rosebuds while I may,
And look at life through a rosy prism,
And look forward as life goes day to day,
And fill pages with joy, not cynicism.
I’ll be happy to meet with you once more,
Today, tomorrow or who knows when?
This year, next year, but let’s do it before
Yesterday’s sweet meetings are forgotten.
And now for the refrain to set this song,
With a wish to see you again sometime,
It will be soon, because before too long
You’ll be in sunrise, and set in my rhyme.
