Sadly I recently changed my 38 year old son Brett Siegall to deceased! He committed suicide 3/31/2020! Some people are embarrassed by that and don’t admit it. Not pushing it but not hiding it. With the Virus situation we could not even go to the funeral in Chicago.nor receive condolence calls or have a traditional
Jewish Shiva where we would have condolence calls for 3-5 days at a family home.! So we mourn by ourselves with out the help of visitors, not even family as in normal times when we would have travelled to Chicago for the funeral and be with family. We had to watch on line live streamed on the MitzvahFunerals Website with only 10
People permitted at the cemetery. I live in a wonderful gated community in Miromar Lakes Florida where we have made lots of friends and acquaintances thru my real estate and our tennis activities and attendance at twice weekly happy hours tho I still don’t drink! Dear friends I had met thru finding them a few homes realized our plight and called and texted or emailed a few friends about 10:00 am on a Tue morning hoping to get 15 or 20 + cars to do a drive by SHIVA l They told us they were bringing a bottle of wine and bringing chairs and we would sit in the front yard/driveway social distancing about 4:00 that day. No mention of what was happening. They came over at 4:00 and I said let’s go in the lanai by the pool and be more comfortable. Well they refused. Then at about 4:15 began a 33 minute parade of over 200 cars of our friends and neighbors each slowly passing us rolling down their windows offering condolences. Some were brief 10-20 seconds and some spent maybe 30 seconds to a minute. Just an amazing outpouring of sympathy. Didn’t know we knew so many people and were only a handful that
I could not name. So what they thought was a good gesture to get a few people snowballed in just 4-5 hours to over 200 cars. Despite these difficult times with the Virus and loss of our son we are truly blessed. My son lost his battle to alcoholism, which he couldn’t successfully deal with I! He was a great kid sober but a terrible drunk many days a week after work. Unfortunately the bad Brett took the good Brett with him. Now the point I wanted to make when I began this was the discovery of how many people we know who were in that 200 car parade and others we’ve heard from that have lived the same pain we are experiencing. Haven’t counted but I think 15-20! I weep for all of them and I nsuspect many of my loved ETHS classmates have suffered the same and I offer them my love and heartfelt prayers to all.
55 years later I say to you all, I love my ETHS family and the connections I have made with you on Fred’s wonderful website and Facebook and every reunion. Your classmate forever! Sherwin "Jay" Go Wildkits. I still bleed orang and blue and have a shirt to prove it!
How are you connected to Elizabeth Hippen or Marissa Seidler. They are my cousins. Easier to communicate by email or text. Jay@siegall.com 239-464-9700

I remember faces but only names are Bisoulis, Schultz and my Nellie Fox, JC Higgins glove for 2.98 we bought at Sears in Evanston.

I remember Schwimmer, Schwartz, Sidney Casselberry, Borre and his father. Remember the rest of the faces but can't come up with names.
