Loved Janets "article"and it has a lot of truths to it..and like Marty I don't remember having a lot of "close" friends throughout hgh school but did have some that I will always remember..and think about those years.  Like Sherwin said....and I'm sure it happens with a lot of us....when we go to the In Memory page and see all those that we knew either personally or just by name....a tear does appear...and the greatful feeling  that "we" are still here is very satisfying.  May you all here enjoy the "new" 50's   :)

I just noticed it has been over two and one-half years since this website was launched by the remarkable, and just-too-cool-on-his-motorcycle, Fred Bostoff.  What a great gift to a uniquely fortunate group of folks.  I connect with so much that is shared.  I feel remiss in not augmenting my profile or participating in the forum more.  How else would you know how grateful I am for this endeavor.  Hey, thanks.

Agreed Joan! I look forward to emails that something has been posted on the site!

I agree with Joan and Jay. I wrote the prelude to my profile, but never got around to posting a profile. Next time I'm sitting at an airport, perhaps . . . .

Encouraged by Jay's comment, I've attached (I hope) a clip of what has become my true passion for the past year and a half. I traveleld with Vocal Majority to perform in the UK last summer (among other places). As our director says, this is "barbershop on steroids."

Having retired a year ago, Shelly and I are making our first attempt at "snowbirding" by spending February and March in Scottsdale, Arizona.  While down here, we met ETHS classmates Mark Goldman (and wife, Dale) and Phil Kaplan (and wife, Janice) for dinner at the Goldman home.

Yes Fred, glad you posted that you are "snowbirding" in AZ. Just decided yesterday to go to Phoenix for a few days (with Alyn) the week of March 15th for my Aunts 90th birthday. She's in Scottsdale and we'll stay with my cousin in Cave Creek where I think Mark lives. While there will surely go to one of my favorite restuarants DON & CHARLIES for ribs. Email me your cell so we can communicate possibly getting together. jay@siegall.com cell 239-464-9700

Jack wrote about the "Vocal Majority."  Great video clip!  I too have found a wonderful outlet in singing.  I sing in two Denver choirs - one a Jewish women's choir with 17 singers, the other a choir (which meets in a chuch) with 130 men and women. Both are challenging, take concentration (a wonderful escape from the rest of my busy life), and I have met wonderful people.  Takes me back to all the great choir experiences I had at ETHS.

Our classmate John O'Boyle, who is a producer in New York, is having is movie "Easter Mysteries" playing on one day only, March 22nd, on a national tour. The movie is playing at he Muvico Theater in Rosemont, Il for the Chicago area. Check on Fathomevents.com to view where the movie is playing national wide. Just thought the classmates would like to know.

Jack,

That's pretty cool - you should be very proud of yourself for getting involved in ths.  I tried to spot you but could not do so - even with pausing the video.  Best of luck and enjoyment with this - really impressive.

Bravo, Jack.  Kudos to you & the Vocal Majority  It's no mean feat to be champions.  I sang with the General Assembly Chorus in RTP, NC for 1 year until my son was born & because of health reasons my wife needed me at home more.  I have always enjoyed barbershop harmony.  In the summer, my parents would take us kids to a SPEBSQA concert at the Wilmette Bowl.  I continued to go on my own during college summers at home in Evanston.

Check this out, I LOVED IT!  Looks like it may have taken place in a Hyatt House?  Enjoy!

The way the National Anthem is intended to be sung.

500 high school choir students sing the U.S. National anthem in a high-rise hotel.
Each night before curfew, they gather on their balconies to sing
the Star-Spangled Banner from the balconies of the 18-story atrium
at Louisville 's downtown Hyatt Regency as part of the
Kentucky Music Educators convention.
You can’t help it but get goose bumps when you hear them sing.

Absolutely, positively AWESOME. What a great performance of many talented men in harmony! Enjoyed clip so much.

Beautiful!  I love the slower pace - you can hear the words and think about their meaning as you listen to 500 people who can really sing beautifully (something I cannot do!!!).

Thanks, Sherrie, for posting that acoustically beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.  It was truly moving.

Thanks Sherrie! Its so good to hear such a beautiful singing of the our National Anthem sung the way we learned it! SO MUCH more beautiful than some of the versions heard today at so many sporting events on TV.

Just do not like the way it is sung so often at these sporting events. It does not need to be re invented!!

This is the way it was meant to be and does make me feel proud to be an American as per the lyrics of Another great song!

I loved this massive "choir" singing. It was breathtaking. I also love singing and sing in a Reform congregation's choir in Hollywood, Florida, although I belong to Chabad. FYI: Arcadia Publishing has a book about the history of Evanston. It is comprised of many vintage post cards, etc.
