i knew Bill as Bunce, as a fellow jock among jocks, i guess is how i see it looking back from here.  i did not know him well, i knew him as a good man and a fun being.  ¶i have registerred and plan to attend Bill Bunce's zoom Celebration of Life, in solidarity with the many classmates i knew and know better than he, who knew him better than i did.  i infact see it as a rare opportunity to be with by zoom many classmates dear to me across thuh world, including Bill himself.  ¶ if there is a limit reached on how many may register, i would like my registration to be stricken to make room for others closer to Bill.  ¶ please let me know if my reason for registration sounds too odd for a Celebration of Life.

I am finding that I don't always know personally the classmate that has passed away.  There is definately a bit of sadness whether I knew them or not.  The class of '64 is like a club we as classmates all belonged to.  As we slowly diminish one by one it is sad.  The feeling has come over me that I did not pay enough attention to all the great classmates I had and that is my loss.  My hope is that all of you have good health and great success in your ventures.  And we were all lucky to have attended such a good school as ETHS.

Well said Kristine, I feel exactly the same way!  Anytime I read another classmate's profile, I am always impressed by their accomplishments and experiences.  We truly had  the opportunity for an incredible and incomparable  education, I only wish I had appreciated it and utilized more of it than I did!

To all of you have written about our class through the years, i have so enjoyed reading them. I loved my 4 years of high school. I enjoyed the teachers, students and administrators. It was a great school to grow up in and with the comradery continuing over 50 years later. Thanks for all the good times and to those that we still hope to have. Peace be with us all.

ditto Nancy.

Ditto. I used to put a "d" by the yearbook picture of the person who died. I always felt sad doing that. Bill sounds like a wonderful person. Glad a lot of you all knew him but that stroke was a nasty event. Hold on, everybody.

Passover 2021

The March moon is full, so

Passover has come again. But we know

There’s a plague upon us,

With Corona Virus,

Therefore our Exodus

Celebration of Passover must go

In a family zoom,

Instead of at one table in one room.

But we still can recall,

Pesach, when we were all

There and there was no wall

Of social distance and the plagues would loom

Over the Egyptians,

As we would remember the conditions

Of ancient slavery

Endured by us, as we

Become the memory

Of those times and of our celebrations

With parents, grandparents,

And children asking “What’s the difference

Between Pesach nights and

Others, to understand

The need for a free land?”

A question, we all answered to make sense

Of ancient history,

And modern events for our family.

So that the children could

Follow the path that would

Take them into that good

Land with the Hebrews of antiquity,

Into “The Promised Land,”

Along with Joshua, at God’s command

And Dayenu for the hand

Of God that brought plagues and

Took us across the sand,

And split the sea so we would understand

The history we can

Celebrate. A history that began

Millennia ago

When Moses learned to know

God’s will made the winds blow

For Hebrew tribes to take them to Canaan,

The “Promised Land” where we

Would be free of the bonds of slavery.

So we say, “Dayenu”

For family, we knew,

Who taught us what to do

When our Passover Seders came yearly.

Though this year we must be

Separated by distance socially,

We still can see the smiles

Of love across the miles

While they chew through the piles

Of Matzah that come with our history,

And a few cups of wine,

To drink when blessing the fruit of the vine.

It’s our tradition, so

We drink to long ago,

Those we knew, those we know.

So here’s to “Tradition” with Tevye’s line,

“L’Chai-im.” “To life, to

Life, L’Chai-im.” To life to us all who

Are here celebrating

The first full moon of spring,

And freedom’s beginning,

This March, with good Pesach to all of you.

And Happy Easter too!

Robert Lindner

WOW!  What an incredible poem to share with us.   Says it all!  What wonderful talent you have.

Speaking of Passover, here is a funny story to share.  For a short while, I lived in Graysville, Ill.  A small town about 10 miles from the Wisc border.  I was probably the only Jew who lived there.  Passover was approaching so I went to the local "Piggly Whiggly" grocery store to purchase some Matza.  Couldn't find it in the store, so I found an employee and asked, "Where's the Matza?"  He said, "Where's the WHAT?"  I responded, "The Matza.  You know, unlevened bread..."  He didn't know what I was talking about, so I found the store manager and asked him, "Where's the Matza?"  He said, "Where's the WHAT?"  I responded, "MATZA!  You know, unleveend bread?"  He still looked confused.  So I followed up with, :"You know, THE LAST SUPPER?"  He nodded "Yes."  I said, "Jesus was celebrating the Passover Sader.  And they were eating unlevened bread!  MATZA!!!"laugh  Rise Narens  class of 64.

i actually found the topic "Allies in fighting racism" already there, to be the most appropriate.  so that's where it is now.

i actually feel all my posts are political/social commentary.  as are each of ours.  the least intended all thuh more so.  and these latter remain on the Message Forum unabashed.  but i do highly prefer Fred Brostoff to Dr. Michaels.  only the views in power are "not" controversial.

Bill Bunce's memorial service was beautifully done with an amazing photo montage and family and friends speaking. He was a really fine person!

I did not know how to post this directly to Jay Siegall so I am posting it here.

Please do not read if you are not Jay.

I appreciate your willingness to host a mini reunion in Spring 2022 at your Florida home. All past reunions have been great fun.  I am willing to volunteer to help you on this project.

Here is my proposal: in order to assure all goes smoothly, I will arrive at your home mid-November 2021. This may seem a bit early, but I like to plan carefully. I am sure you have adequate housing for us (ground floor bedroom, private patio, with full bath).  Jay, I will also bring my wife to stay with us at your home, also, Nigel, our English bulldog. Rest assured he should be house trained by then.  His drooling is not as bad as it sounds, though shaking his head indoor with a long drool can pose cleanup issues (especially on that newly installed floral wallpaper).

Donna will help with the decorations and will bring wallpaper (she likes flowery wallpaper in every room), drapery, flooring, lighting and paint samples.  Your house will look great!

Donna and I will need a few installments prior to our arrival.  First, we each have our own diets (me Keto, her vegan).  We can send a list of these foods to you so they could be available upon arrival.  While I would prefer not to discuss certain other requirements I should give you advance notice: a Toto toilet will need to be installed prior to arrival (Neorest 700H Elongated with Cyclone Flush System, a deal at under $5000 on-line and you can keep it after we leave). Please make sure grab bars are installed in the tub area. Also, we will need a king size Tempur-Pedic LUXEbreeeze Soft Mattress ($9000 on-line). Did I forget to tell you we will also need a car, convertible preferred.

If there is anything else, I’ll let you know.  See you soon!

Preston:

Your wish is our command. All ordered and scheduled. Please arrange to arrive by helicopter with pontoons on the lake behind our house as we will be unable to get you at the airport at that time as we will still be incarcerated due to illegal Facebook posts  so appreciate for you to handle the reunion activities as Inwas besides myself how to deal with it due to the incarceration after opening up my big mouth about the proposed reunion activities! I  love my brother and winner of the lowest know class rank discussion  tho I am still grieving over the loss! Still think the ETHS transcripts are somehow faked!

No water landings for me, too many alligators, anacondas and Burmese pythons in those Florida waters.  Happy you will be prepared for my arrival.  Stay safe and heathy,  you will need both.
