Graduated Wisconsin State - Oshkosh, worked in NYC as office assistant to Virginia Admiral (mother of Robert DeNiro), fought the draft and was recognized as an ehtically based conscientious objector. Moved to SF Bay Area and worked with troubled juveniles. Went to Law School and then worked for the State of Washington assessing and enforcing child support. Retired in 2001.

School Story

Transferred from a class of 11 students in the High School on Washington Island, WI at the start of my junior year. Having seen "Rebel with a cause"
I was prepared for everyone to see me as the new kid, after all on Washington Island I kew everyone and everyone knew me. Heck, I even knew who everybody's first and second cousins were. After swimming in chaos and anxiety for a few months; one of my new friends swore I was is middle school class in Evanston. I soon learned how much I was in control of my own history.

i am deeply honored to have received Robert's 2nd to last comment. i responded in a number of ways including e-mail and in-house message. but never heard from him again. i never knew him except by this message/comment herein, and am yet deeply touched by our 2 major life post h.s. connections. his mode of passing could be surmised from his comment here to me. but i have no way of knowing, and tried some time ago to google him to no avail. i treasure the commaraderie of his sincere gentle footsteps on this earth. go well Robert Herschberger. stay well Umfundisi.

Happy Birthday ya' old fart. I never even got close to the reunion. I'm not exactly the social type and would have been just a wandering attendee with a curious name tag. Certainly seems our class out did themselves. People who had no relationship to ETHS managed to find me through the reunion website! My best to you and yours. Hershey
