i am deeply honored to have received Robert's 2nd to last comment. i responded in a number of ways including e-mail and in-house message. but never heard from him again. i never knew him except by this message/comment herein, and am yet deeply touched by our 2 major life post h.s. connections. his mode of passing could be surmised from his comment here to me. but i have no way of knowing, and tried some time ago to google him to no avail. i treasure the commaraderie of his sincere gentle footsteps on this earth. go well Robert Herschberger. stay well Umfundisi.
"What caught my eye in your memories posted to ETHS Reunion was your being a conscientious objector. I too obtained that status and feel some comraderie with all others who did likewise. I being transferred to your blog I noted another parallel, I am being treated for cancer and though still in the woods am posing a valiant fight. Finally, the fact that you appear to be in Seattle or San Francisco, I am in Tacoma and looking forward to visiting San Francisco in Mid April.
