After ETHS, I attended college in Kansas, however, did not complete a degree at that time. I worked as a Union Certified Welder for many years and in 1983 I reenrolled in college and completed two Bachelors degrees.
From 1983 through 2004 I was employed with several Kansas, Missouri and Federal offices working in Welfare and Purchasing. In 2005, my career goals changed and I became a truck driver over the road and retired in 2012.
For two years after retiring I resided in Indianapolis IN, however at present I reside in Joplin MO.
I’ve been in Joplin MO for almost four years now and know that I retired in the perfect place. For two years I have been a member of a group which takes bus trips to various events and locations. I am scheduled for a trip to Branson MO to see “Samson” at a playhouse. In September I will travel to Kansas City to see the Broadway play “Mamma Mia”. Old Route 66 is remembered well here.
My motorcycle became difficult for me to handle so I sold it and now ride a motor scooter. It’s actually a kick to drive and easier for me to load in my truck.
I enjoy reading about each of you. My favorite teacher and mentor was Mr. Gassen.
After retiring for 7 years and traveling plus golfing everywhere I can I went to work as a cashier at a local truck stop. It’s a great job however my 75 year old knees are finding it difficult to move. I purchased a 1 ton, 4 door, diesel duel wheel GMC and in 2021 I will be delivering trailers, fifth wheel trailers and do hotshot loads in all 49 states. Retirement is not for weaklings lol. I have to stay busy. My prayers and best wishes go out to all.
God Bless
