Gale Glassner (Twersky)

I wanted to share this info for those of my schoolmates who live in CA and are in jeopardy of the dangerous air quality, I researched air purifying machines. I was told by people in the medical field that there were two top rated air puifying machines:.Austin Air Healthmate Plus is the one we ordered. Do your own research, of course, but consider one that gets out smoke related pollutants and chemicals out with hepa filter with lots of carbon in the filter. The one I ordered has 15 lbs. of carbon and the filter may need to be replaced possibly every 5 yrs.

Hi Gale,

Thanks for your note and the information about air filters. We live in Los Gatos so the smoke from up north drifted down our way and was quite bd for over aweek. Thankfully, the racent rain and winds off the ocean have cleared the smoke out. The purifiers you mention will certainly help in the home but one is still at risk outside so limiting extyernal exposure is important as is wearing a mask. Hope you and your family are safe and well. There are a lot of us alumns in California.

best wishes,

Lincoln

Robert "Bob" Reece was an outstanding athlete at ETHS, but more impressive was his wonderfully warm and friendly personality! It's no wonder to me that his life's achievements are so impressive and so very well deserved! Bob always set the bar VERY high for himself and he's proven what tenacity and hard work can accomplish!

Very well done, Bob! I hope to see you at the next Reunion!

I wanted to add my congratulations to Bob Reese for his achievements in his life(an outstanding business career)and personal achievements which have been recognized with rewards and acknowledgement. It is amazing to think back on our years at ETHS as we had no idea at the time what our colleagues would achieve and contribute to society during their lives. As Bonnie said, it takes great tenacity and commitment for this to happen. Congratulations to Bob, another overachiever who has made a positive difference to our world!

Best wishes,

Lincoln

I echo Link's comments! You've accomplished so much, Bob.

I fondly remember the days when your deeds on the basketball court were cheered with the single word, "Reeeeeeeeese" by those of us in the Wally Schnell (may he RIP) crowd.

Just echoing others who have commented.  Congratulations, Bob, on a life well lived and the role model you’ve become for others!  It is thrilling to read that your good deeds have been recognized and this honor has been bestowed.  You make our class proud!  Thank you.

I can't think of anyone more deserving of the ETHS Distinguished Service Award than Bob Reece.  He has been a great friend since those first days 60 years ago when we were teammates on our Gillette Music little league baseball team where his leadership skills were already evident.  In addition to being a business and community leader Bob has had a tremendous positive influence on Evanston's youth and is simply one of the best human beings I have ever know.  Bobby, I look forward to our annual golf outing in Sarasota again this winter.  Let me know when you will be coming down.

I know many of you have beaten me to the punch (some by many, many years), but I am a first time grandmother of a beautiful grandson--Theodore Robert Potter is three weeks old today! So delighted! I wish he had entered a friendlier world, but his immediate family and surroundings will provide him with the love and values that he can use to help this planet find the ways to go on and on and be as beautiful a place to live as it was for our generation. But I do worry!

Ruth,

I know exactly how you feel. I became a grandfather about two years ago when my daughter delivered little Asa which means healer.  I thought I never really cared about having a grandson or that it would happen, but it did. Asa has brought such joy, happiness and love into our lives and nothing beats a hug and a kiss from him. He has given me even more motivation and determination to overcome some of the disabilities from a stroke i suffered in 2010 because I want to see him grow and enjoy him everyday. So, enjoy every moment with  your granddaughter as each day  gets better and better. Being a grandparent is so differenet than being a parent and I love it. Hope you and your family are well. these children will hopefully make the world a better place.

besy wishes,

Lincoln

I just became a grandma for the first time too this past summer. Little Liam is in Ohio and we're here in Champaign so we usually see him via skype. But we have managed to see him in person. It is truly a gift and we are very excited.

Nothing beats being a grandparent. My two grandgirls are ages 18 and 16...and I adore them. Watch your grandkids and enjoy their changes. You have the time now to do that. You didn't when you had your own kids because you were growing up at the same time. It all went by too fast. So, slow down and enjoy...they leave the nest all too soon.

Like Kathy, I also heve two grandgirls 19 last May and 16 on December 21st. The older one is a sophomore at Cornell. I'm thinking about great grandkids, but don't tell the girls. There are also two grandboys by my second son. They are 3 and 6 and we are taking them to Disney World. Fun Stuff!

Ruth,

Congratulations on at last becoming a grandmother! It's one experieince I won't have in this lifetiime, but I know grandchildren can bring a lot of joy and richness to one's life. Keep in touch and fill me in on tales of grandmotherhood!

Congratulations, Ruth!  My son and daughter are twins; they had their first children 6 weeks apart.  Both Violet (Keith's and Kate's) and Bailey (Erica's and Tim's) are 12.  Violet is already taller than I am (OK, I've shrunk a bit over the years). Keith and Kate also have Sidney, who willl be 10 in March.

Someone once told me that you love your children, but you fall in love with your grandchildren.  How true!  The first time I saw Violet I felt like a teenager in love for the first time -- all giddy and oh so happy.

Best wishes to all of our grandparent classmates!  May health and joy be in the future for all of our grandchildren!

We seem to be late starters in the grandparent “bowl”. I have one turning one this month and one turning 5 this month. They light up my heart. Even when they’re being stinkers 😜

Congrats to all the grandparents.  We are excited to be looking forward to welcoming our FIFTH great-grandchild in April - the first great-grandSON (NOTE:  Two are step-great-granddaughters, but we love them every bit as much).  Love the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but not particularly thrilled with the parenting philosophies of our grandchildren.  In other words, we would love to see the great-granddaughters a little (lot) more disciplined than they are.  Must be a by-product of us getting old and grumpy.  Do you suppose?

I want to add my thoughts to those already mentioned about the joys of being a grandparent. It really is something special and so thankful I have one grandson t o know and love. It is a very special relationship and so different from your own children. Upon reflection, I think that we as parents spend so much time building a life that we dont have the time to enjoy our children. With a grandchild, e can really focus on them growing up, hitting milestones, etc. A luxury we just did not have with our own kids. Someone told me that you have kids so that you can then have grandchildren! In any case, we are all still here and we all have a lot to be thankful for, espscially at this time of year.

Best wishes to all,

Lincoln
