Jerrilynn Engeln (McCabe)
I have just completed my first book, "Who Cares?" by Lynn Engeln. It's a true story of my nursing career and the last 5 years of challenges as a patient on the other side of the computer. I wrote it from memory, waking up in the middle of the night and just writing. It was for my sanity most of all and getting it all on paper was and is a healing experience for me. During those years, Jack had declining Dementia and did his best to help me. I was alone to fight my battles with the medical profession and now feel vindicated. A few names are mentioned, but the doctors need no names. I am a survivor and this is a testament to my resilience to keep living the best life I can.

TEXT ON BACK OF BOOK COVER:
In this powerful and candid memoir, Lynn-an outspoken, sharp-witted nurse who knows the medical system from the inside out-invites readers into her gripping journey from injury and insult to righteous fury and hard-won triumph.
Drawn from years of raw, therapeutic journal entries, her story exposes the pitfalls of modern healthcare, from age and gender bias to the growing disconnect created by screen-bound providers. With unflinching honesty, fierce self- advocacy, and a biting sense of humor, she confronts flawed diagnoses, celebrates the rare practitioners who truly listen, and champions those who can't speak for themselves. Intense, eye-opening, and unexpectedly uplifting, this book is a call to reclaim genuine patient-centered care-and a must-read for anyone navigating today's medical maze.
