Obituary: Marykay Werneski Anderson
Marykay Anderson
November 15, 1946 - October 27, 2013
Marykay Werneski Anderson was born in Chicago on November 15, 1946, but she made it to Austin as fast as she could. Arriving in 1984, she married Duncan Anderson, and they lived happily until her passing on October 27, 2013.
Marykay had a diverse career, working as a market research analyst in the hotel industry and as a legal secretary and law office manager. But most of all, Marykay was a legendary organizer---in politics, business and in her private life. While in Chicago, she coordinated several massive victory dinners for Illinois Governor James Thompson. In Austin, she developed national and local sales meetings for 3M. But her crowning achievements were the memorable parties she hosted for her many friends, with sumptuous buffets fit for royalty. An avid golfer along with her husband, Marykay and Duncan were a social center for a large community of golfing buddies.
Marykay was much loved and admired by those who knew her. Condolences mention “her wonderful spirit," "the blessing of her presence in our lives," and "our beautiful memory of her.”
Marykay is survived by her husband, Duncan; sisters, Jeanne and Joyce; and nieces, Tara and Stacey of Indiana, and Loraine, Denise and Tracy of Scotland.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 2, at 11:00a.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail in South Austin. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Come dressed in casual golf attire.

Marykay was my friend in Junior High and I can remember playing at her house on (is it?) Greenwood in Evanston. I'm sorry to learn of her passing and regret that we never connected again after high school.

Marykay and I were friends for our most of our school years, as well as at church. She was a very good "organizer" on many fronts, a skill she undoubtedly learned from her Mom. I'm sorry that we didn't keep in touch after graduation but I would occasionally hear about her through friends at church. May she rest in peace.
