So sad. Ellyn and I go back to 3rd or 4th grade at Dawes School. Remember getting my first "English Racer" bike, a Raleigh at her dads bike store "Minky's" on Devon Ave. My older brother got his Schwinn Traveler there! And my Dad, who seemed to know everyone , knew Minky from when Minky had his bike store on the West Side, I think Roosevelt Road before he moved the shop to the North Side..Good memories and so sad to lose another classmate and part of our great years growing up in SW Evanston!

So sad to lose Ellyn from this world.  We were great friends at Dawes School from grades 3-6. It was an important time in our lives; a time that we shared together with each other and our families. In fact, our class at Dawes School was our extended family.  We cared about  each other like sisters and brothers. I loved Ellyn then and will remember her forever as she's so deeply embedded in my childhood memories. We spent so many happy times together. We went from little kids to pre-adolescents and witnessed how we navigated that journey.

Ellyn, you were a bright spot in my life as part of our wonderful class at Dawes and the phenomenal teachers and experiences they provided for us as a community of learners and friends.  I will forever remember you, your house, your family and our good times.

Goodbye my dear, sweet childhood friend. Karen Kaz
