My dear friend Evelyn Heard Kelly passed away this past January. Her funeral was January 14 in Rapid City, South Dakota where she resided with her husband Bishop Lorenzo Kelly. They would have been married 50 years this Oct. She had cancer and was so looking forward to this reunion. She was very active in her local church as well as the Church of God In Christ. She will be missed by many who knew and loved her. Please keep her husband in your prayers.
I didn't know Evelyn well in high school but I had such a wonderful time with her at our last reunion, I was really looking forward to seeing her again. I know she is resting in peace.
After re-reading Evelyn's last comments in her profile, I can only say that I hope I can have such "grace under fire" as she did while dealing with her illness. She seemed to be maintaining a positive outlook while doing what was in her power to do. At the same time, she was ready to accept the Will of the Higher Power. She will be missed by many.
I'll definitely miss Evelyn and her beautiful smile. I remember my Mom driving is to school once in awhile. She was a wonderful soul. God bless her now, and give her peace.
