Not long before he died, Lou and I struck up an email correspondence.  I was so surprised to hear from him...and surprised that he remebered me after such a long time!  He told me that he really appreciated my friendship when he felt 'left out' in school.  Great guy...and so funny.  Even in an email he could still make me laugh!

I was so glad to see a posting about Louie! I had spent a fair amount of time googling when I saw his death noted here, and didn't come up with anything.

Louie and I were at Washington school together. Also Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and paper routes for the Daily News ($8 per month; not a good idea, for which I did perhaps blame him a little). We spent a lot of time at each others houses. I don't remember his father, but his mother was very nice, and a talented artist. Louie was a "challenging" kid, and not one of my mother's favorites. He was really, really funny. but a handful. We both went out for wrestling, and I can remember Coach George kicking him out of practice one day for doing a pretty good Elias George imitation. Coach was not appreciative.

We lost touch when his family moved to Wilmette, and I often wondered what happened to him.

When he reached out to me he was working at Walter Reed. Had lots of stories to share.
